Rockleigh Biodiversity Workshop Wrap Up

Activity From the Mulgundawa to Tungkillo Biodiversity Links Project

On a cool autumn morning last week, local landholders gathered at the Rockleigh Old School House, welcomed by a warm fire and a shared passion for restoring biodiversity across the landscape.

The workshop brought together participants involved in our Mulgundawa to Tungkillo Biodiversity Links project for a day of learning, discussion, and connection focused on revegetation and habitat restoration.

Throughout the day we explored:
• Revegetation basics - where to start, what to look for, and who to talk to
• Tree guards and the pros and cons of different approaches
• Other methods for protecting young plantings
• The important relationship between flora and fauna

One of the highlights of the day was a field walk at Bushland Conservation, where participants were able to see established revegetation exclosures firsthand and learn from many years of local experience and knowledge in the area.

It was also fantastic to see landholders connecting with one another, sharing stories, challenges, and insights from their own revegetation journeys.

A huge thank you to Phil from Barron Environmental for delivering such an informative and entertaining workshop, and to everyone who joined us for the day.

This project is supported by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board through funding from the landscape levies.
