Community Nurseries Network - Growing Together
For the past five years, we’ve been proud to revive, maintain, and grow the Fleurieu Community Nurseries Network - now bringing together more than a dozen passionate community nurseries across the region.
This collaborative spirit has deep roots, with earlier versions of the network playing a key role in the Coorong, Lower Lakes and Murray Mouth Recovery Program (CLLMM). Today, that legacy of teamwork continues to flourish.
Recently we gathered for our final 2025 meet-up at the beautiful Fleurieu Coast Community Nursery in Yankalilla. It was a fantastic opportunity to swap knowledge, share challenges and successes, and explore new opportunities for working together to grow and care for our local native plants.
🌱 Topics we dug into included:
• Plant nutrition
• Liverwort & lichen control in tube stock
• Germination tips for tricky species
• Exocarpus syrticola seed pre-treatment & germination (big thanks to Ngarrindjeri nurseryman Jordan Bingapore from Raukkan for sharing his expertise!)
• Nursery hygiene and best-practice protocols
• Cuttings techniques
• An open Q&A where everyone could share their nursery questions
The energy and generosity in the room made it such a worthwhile day - everyone left with new knowledge, new connections, and plenty of enthusiasm to carry into the rest of the growing season.
Huge thanks to Sam for organising, and to everyone who came along and contributed.
