Top 5 Stories of 2025
As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the stories you engaged with most this year. From threatened species recovery to community-powered action, these posts captured what matters most to our community.
1️⃣ Healthy Urban Waterways – A Major New Project
Our most engaged with story for the year was the announcement of our Healthy Urban Waterways – Mount Barker and Fleurieu South Coast project. This three-year initiative will restore over 45 hectares of waterways and wetlands, plant 22,000+ local natives, and create habitat for the endangered Yarra Pygmy Perch across some of South Australia’s fastest-growing urban areas.
2️⃣ Supporting Swamp Habitat Restoration at Yundi
This post highlighted the power of collaboration, with the donation of 150 rare Swamp Gums and Candlebarks to the Yundi Swamp Restoration Network. Grown by our community nursery volunteers, these trees are now helping restore precious swamp habitats across the Fleurieu Peninsula.
3️⃣ From Seed to Habitat
You loved going behind the scenes at our community nurseries. In 2024/25, our nurseries produced over 100,000 local native seedlings, many of them rare or threatened species, thanks to the skill of our nursery managers and the dedication of our incredible volunteers.
4️⃣ Threatened Species Recovery in Action
Another standout post showcased thousands of threatened plants — including Silver Daisy Bush, Menzel’s Wattle and Native Pennyroyal — being carefully propagated and planted back into their natural habitats across dozens of biodiversity restoration sites.
5️⃣ Conserving Mount Bold’s Threatened Plants
Rounding out the Top 5 was the launch of the Conserving Mt Bold Threatened Plant Populations project, including the rediscovery of the Showy Violet, once thought regionally extinct. Together with partners and volunteers, we planted hundreds of individuals to help protect one of the region’s richest biodiversity hotspots.
Thank you for liking, sharing and supporting our work this year — every interaction helps amplify the importance of caring for nature and Country 🌿
We’re excited to keep growing impact together in 2026.
