Turtle power in Mount Barker!
Recently we had an absolute shell-ebration delivering our Turtle Workshop to local Mount Barker environmental volunteer groups!
We dove into:
🌿 How to use TurtleSat to upload turtle and nesting observations
🐢 The local turtle species you might spot around the Hills
⚠️ The threats our turtles are facing - and the practical actions we can take to help turn the tide
It was inspiring to see so many passionate volunteers keen to protect our region’s declining turtle populations. Every observation counts, and together we’re building a clearer picture to help these ancient reptiles thrive.
A huge thank you to Professor Mike Thompson for sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm, and to the Environmental Team at Mount Barker District Council for hosting and supporting the session.
This project is an initiative of the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board with funding from the South Australian Government’s Landscape Priorities Fund.
