Revegetation Walk at Callington
Activity From Kanmantoo Grassy Woodland Revegetation Project
We recently hosted some of our project partners at one of our grassy woodland revegetation sites in Callington.
The visit showcased the impressive scale of plantings achieved over the past few years and featured valuable insights from experts across the ReBird the Ranges alliance on a range of grassy woodland revegetation methods.
Since 2023, we have planted, watered and guarded 10,000 seedlings across 100 hectares of contiguous land spanning Adelaide Hills 4WD and the adjoining Mock property in the Adelaide Hills. Canopy tree seedlings have been planted at low densities, with wide spacing designed to replicate the open structure of grassy woodlands, supporting species like the Diamond Firetail (EPBC-listed Vulnerable).
Thank you to everyone who came, and especially to the landholders, Glenda and Robert Mock, and Adelaide Hills 4WD for their ongoing support. Glenda and Robert have contributed their own time and resources to remove temporary guards, install heavy-duty wire mesh guards and undertake pest animal control. Adelaide Hills 4WD has undertaken weed control across the property and will remove temporary guards as needed.
This work has been supported by funding from the Landscapes Priorities Fund and State Government.
