A New Identity

Nature’s Perfection

Our newly created visual identity visually references the Craspedia otherwise known as, ‘Billy Buttons’.

The Billy Button flowerhead grows in the form of a Fibonacci Spiral.

In order to thrive
we must become aware…

A herbaceous perennial native to Australia and New Zealand, the Craspedia symbolises good health. It goes by many names, including Billy buttons, Billy Balls, Woollyheads and Drumsticks, all referencing the plant’s quirky appearance. The flower head of a Craspedia can be regarded as mathematical perfection with its sphere of tiny florets mimicking a perfect Fibonacci spiral.

A reflection of who we are…

Our new emblem, Billy Buttons, being a composite flower, represents the many groups and individuals we work with to collectively achieve significant improvement for our environment.

Nature: the best designer…

The Craspedia’s spiral sequence represents the growth of a community’s environmental awareness. In the beginning, its spiral is small but as groups such as Second Nature work with others to foster awareness, growth begins to radiate outwards. Through our on ground work, educational programs and workshops, the community has begun to better understand how our actions have reactions; that we have disconnected with nature in many ways and that with knowledge and understanding we can grow a more sustainable future.
