Wetland Bird Walk - Chiton

  • Beyond Wetlands Chiton, SA, 5211 Australia (map)

A Workshop From The Nature Education Project

Learn wetland bird ID with Wendy from Fleurieu Birders on a relaxed walk, plus take part in a bird survey and explore helpful birding apps

Join Wendy from Fleurieu Birders for a relaxed and informative walk through the wetlands as we sharpen our wetland bird identification skills together.

You’ll learn simple, practical techniques to help distinguish species in the field, take part in a real-time bird survey, and upload our observations using the BirdLife Australia app. We’ll also explore a few handy bird ID apps to help build your confidence long after the walk ends.

The wetlands offer and easy stroll for all levels of fitness. Watch out for nesting waterbirds, swans, ducks and grebes and enjoy finding the little bush birds in the surrounding vegetation.

Meet at the Fleurieu Aquatic Centre car park, Ocean Road end (away from the main swimming centre entrance).

This walk is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, observe closely, and connect with your local wetland birds.

What to bring;

  • Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be SunSmart (sunscreen will be available).

  • Bring a water bottle and your binoculars - if you don’t have a pair, let us know and we’ll bring some to share.
