  • Mount Barker Community Library Dumas Street Mount Barker, South Australia, 5251 Australia (map)

A Workshop From The Nature Education Project

Discover the hidden life of the echidna with award-winning author Danielle Clode in this fascinating evening of science and storytelling.

Spiky, egg-laying, ant-eating and full of surprises - the echidna might just be Australia’s most fascinating animal.

Join award-winning author and biologist Danielle Clode for an entertaining evening exploring the secret life of one of our most iconic native mammals. Drawing on stories from her latest book, The Enigmatic Echidna, Danielle will reveal some of the echidna’s most astonishing talents and behaviours.

Did you know echidnas can sense electromagnetic fields, swim with their snouts acting like snorkels, and survive bushfires by sheltering underground? Or that during breeding season, males form curious "echidna trains" as they follow a female through the bush?

Blending science, humour and storytelling, Danielle will take you on a journey into the hidden world of these remarkable animals, uncovering what makes them so unique and why they continue to captivate scientists and nature lovers alike.

Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast, a curious nature lover, or simply someone who enjoys a great story, this promises to be a fun, fascinating and eye-opening evening.

Come along and discover why the echidna is far more than just a prickly oddity - it's one of Australia's true natural wonders.

Tea, coffee and light refreshments provided.

Copies of Danielle’s book will be available for purchase on the evening.
