A Seminar Series From The Fire Wise Project
Are you keen to learn about our local native plant species and how they may be able to reduce risk of bushfire at your place whilst enhancing biodiversity?
This workshop is great for homeowners, garden enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning about how our native plants can be used to reduce the impacts of potential bushfire. Whether you live in a rural or suburban area, the principles of fire-wise landscaping can help to reduce risk to your property when maintained appropriately.
It is important to understand that no plant is completely non-flammable. All species require maintenance (e.g. pruning) to ensure optimum condition. While a well-planned garden is important, it is only one aspect of bushfire preparedness and should not be relied upon in isolation.
This event is part of the Fire Wise Education Project being facilitated by Second Nature and Mount Barker District Council. The project is supported by the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife and has received grant funding from the Australian Government through the Preparing Australian Communities, local stream.
